Just west of the 110 Freeway in unincorporated West Carson, completion nears for a new affordable housing complex from Meta Housing Corp.
Located at 800 W. Carson Street, the project consists of a seven-story building featuring 230 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom dwellings above a two-level subterranean parking garage.
According to a news release by Monarch Private Capital, all of the apartments are to be reserved for renters earning between 30 and 70 percent of the area median income level.
Y&M Architects designed the contemporary podium-type building, which closely resembles the project depicted in contemporary renderings. The building displays a white, black, and grey facade to its east, and will include a community center and multiple courtyards.
The $112-million project is slated to debut in 2026, according information released by general contractor Milender White.
The project is one of a handful of new housing developments now in the works in the surrounding neighborhood, including the recently-completed West Carson Villas from PATH Ventures and a proposed 525-unit development from GPI at 22107 S. Vermont Avenue. The property also sits just east of the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Campus, which is currently in the midst of a $1.8-billion revamp.
