Construction has commenced for a 110,000-square-foot city-owned recreation facility in the Irvine Business Complex. 

The Irvine Fieldhouse, which will be located on a 7.3-acre site at 17300 Red Hill Avenue, will be an indoor sports venue featuring 10 multi-purpose courts, 10 badminton courts, a multipurpose room, a food court, and parking for 369 vehicles.

“Together, we are building more than a gym," said Mayor Larry Agran in a news release. "We are creating a space that brings our community together in meaningful ways, promotes health and well-being, and ensures we maintain an outstanding quality of life for residents."

The complex is expected to be used for city-run programs, youth sports tournaments, and other community events, as well as basketball and volleyball games. Futsal, table tennis, pickleball, and gymnastics are also potential programming for the Fieldhouse.

Ware Malcomb is designing the complex, according to plans released by the City of Irvine. 

Completion of the Irvine Fieldhouse is expected in 2026.
